Jason Wu Spring/Summer 2017

The Jason Wu Spring/Summer 2017 collection was inspired by the tension between natural and artificial elements, drawing from the artwork of Ugo Rondinone. The adaptation of this notion for the Jason Wu woman was defined by the contrast of acidic colors and natural hues as well as in the execution of texture in custom fabrications. Copper metal threads woven in pink champagne organza was manipulated to sculpt a cinched waist, and neon yellow drawstring cords creating sensual cutouts in the most delicate neon lace. An electric blue taffeta was pleated to create a couture shaped dress that is both modern and classical. Jason’s collaboration with Woolmark is reflected on a succession of feather weight wool pieces that open the show, changing the perception of the material that is usually associated with fall.

True to the house codes of craftsmanship and couture techniques, fluorescent floral motifs were hand embroidered to dresses and gowns, creating a 3- dimensional texture with exquisite movement. Lace and silk tulle were used in combination and draped in a series of cocktail dresses that were inspired by sportif lines.
