Well, third time’s the charm for Victoria Beckham—at least as far as her winning looks she’s pulled out in the last few days go. The designer switched gears from the schoolgirl style she was working yesterday for a mannish micro-check suit today in New York. Beckham was a champion of the pantsuit long before the trend popped up all over the Fall 2017 collections—she first made waves with bold red tailoring in 2015.
Beckham’s latest suit might be her most directional yet and took cues from ’70s fashion with bell-bottomed trousers and David Bowie–esque shirting. The pronounced shoulder treatment on the jacket was refined and lent her petite frame a strong presence. She balanced out the masculine elements with feminine touches: A scarf loosely tied around the belt loop added color and flair, while the exaggerated trouser hem created a leg-lengthening effect.
