Matteo De Rosa has been appointed as the new president of Belgian fashion house Dries Van Noten. He will join the designer brand from Ports 1961 on 1 February.
With a degree in fashion design and management from the Universitat Commerciale Luigi Bocconi, De Rosa started his career at Ports 1961, rising to manage director with responsibility for developing the company’s Chinese operations. Founded in Anvers in 1986, Dries Van Noten has eight flagship stores and 560 other doors in 52 countries. Following Puig’s acquisition of the firm, the brand’s founder remains a minority shareholder and continues to hold the titles of the creative director and chairman of the board.
Puig, which operates mainly in the fragrance market, reported revenues of 1.93 billion euros in 2018, while profits rose to 242 million euros. In addition to Dries Van Noten, the group’s portfolio includes four other fashion brands: Carolina Herrera, , Nina Ricci, and Jean-Paul Gaultier. It also owns the perfume license of , Christian and Comme des Garcons, among others. De Rosa has been appointed as the new president of Belgian fashion house Dries Van Noten.
