California-based activewear brand Alo Yoga has expanded beyond apparel into skincare with the debut of 'The Alo Glow System'. Launched on December 8, the range of clean skincare products are made in California, and all products feature the special ingredient amla -- an antioxidant-rich super berry traditionally used in Indian ayurvedic healing.
According to the brand, amla helps reduce fine lines while improving skin texture, glow, and hydration, building collagen production and protecting against environmental damage.
At first launch, the Glow System collection includes an enzyme facial cleanser priced at $32; radiance serum, $88; luminizing facial moisturizer, $48; body wash, $24; body lotion, $28; magnesium reset spray, $48; and a body, face and hair 'glow oil,' $48.
All products are vegan, cruelty-free, and also free from parabens, phthalates, gluten, animal products, sulfates, mineral oil, artificial colors and dyes, synthetic fragrance, aluminum, PEGs, silicones, and propylene glycol.
Alo's entry into a new category comes as the company experiences record-high sales, a consequence of the Covid-19 pandemic pushing consumers to pursue outdoor and at-home workouts. Throughout the pandemic, Alo said it has accelerated its digital sales by more than 4x. In addition, the company has also experienced a 7x uptick in streaming subscriptions of Alo Moves, the company's online streaming platform.
Based on these increases, Alo said it is on track to more than double its business for 2020.
“Because our mission at Alo is to bring mind-body wellness to the world, beauty is our natural next step to complete the full Alo lifestyle,” said Danny Harris, co-CEO and co-founder of Alo Yoga.
“We’re excited to bring the power of the amla super berry to our customers through clean, cutting-edge formulas that can be incorporated into their daily lives beyond the mat.”
Alo's new skincare and subsequent wellness ingestible will be available on aloyoga.com and in Alo stores nationwide.
